Frontera de Cristo

Eighteen Shandon members traveled to Douglas, Arizona/Aqua Prieta, Sonora, Mexico, Jan. 4-9 to learn more about the immigration crisis that has occupied headlines for years. As members of the mission delegation to Frontera de Cristo, they talked with migrant families seeking asylum in the United States, walked in the Sonoran desert to attempt to grasp the perilous path of migrants, prayed in a sidewalk vigil to remember those who died in the desert and met with volunteers who are easing the journeys of those fleeing poverty and violence. We spoke with a veteran Border Patrol officer who talked about the realities of crime along the border. Read more about the trip here. (photos courtesy of Bob Brearley and Carolyn Click)
