Welcome!

We’re so glad you’re here. We’ve been part of the spiritual fabric of Columbia, South Carolina, for more than 100 years. The Shandon neighborhood has always been our home, but we draw members from across the city. And now that online worship is a permanent part of our ministry, members of our extended community come from places as far away as Florida and Kansas, England and Canada. Whoever you are and wherever you’re from, there is a place for you here.

Authentic. Inclusive. Faithful. Creative.

These words describe who we are, but also who we continuously strive to be; a life of faith is ongoing and ever-evolving. We are committed to being part of God’s transforming work in the world. We are committed to making space for God to transform us, too. We aren’t afraid to try new things and explore new ways loving one another and engaging with our community.

We love Jesus and do our very best to follow him. This lead us to worship, study, and pray — and all of that compels us to act. We are an Earth Care congregation, recognizing that God entrusted creation to our keeping. We are a member of MORE Justice (Midlands Organized Response for Equity and Justice), working for systemic positive change in our community. We are affiliated with the Covenant Network of Presbyterians, affirming and welcoming LGBTQIA persons into all areas of church life and leadership. We provide pastoral and programmatic staff to UKirk, the Presbyterian campus ministry at the University of South Carolina, and we are a founding congregational partner of Live Oak Counseling Center, offering affordable mental health resources to those who need it.

We care for one another through all of life’s ups and downs. We believe that friendship is holy and we are intentional about cultivating it. No one should feel alone. Jesus promises to be with us always, and we try to be the human hands and feet and heart of that promise.
