Who We Are

We are children of God. (So are you.)

We are also young & aging,
families & singles,
traditional & creative,
long time members & brand new visitors,
hands on & laid back,
confident & questioning,
in person & online,
looking for comfort & seeking a challenge,
cradle Presbyterians & unsure about spelling P-r-e-s-b-y-t-e-r-i-a-n,
South Carolina natives & recent transplants,
bow ties & t-shirts,
introverts & extroverts, and a whole lot more.

Above all, we’re united by our love for God & neighbor, our commitment to following Jesus, and our conviction that we can make a difference in our community & our world.

Something else important to know about us:

We’re not perfect.

We’ve got links to Insta and other socials, and just like everyone else, we crop and filter our photos, too. But when you come to Sunday worship, or Wednesday night dinner, or youth group, or Bible study, or the Blessing of the Animals, or anything else, you can leave the facade behind. You don’t have to look perfect, act perfect, or even know what perfect means (we’re not sure we know, either). We include a Prayer of Confession every Sunday morning because we know we are human. We mess up and make mistakes. But we hear an Assurance of God’s Grace every Sunday morning, too, and we try to remember that grace for ourselves and share that grace with one another as often as possible. If you’re looking for a perfect church full of perfect people, we’re not it. If you’re looking to be welcomed and accepted for who you are, just as you are — come join us.

More Questions?

We know it can be confusing, intimidating, or even risky, to visit a church. A life of faith doesn’t always invite us into comfortable living, but you should never be made to feel uncomfortable bringing your full self to worship (or anything else we do). Whoever you are, you are welcome at Shandon Presbyterian Church. And whatever questions you want or need to ask, we’re here for them. Ask away.
